Our Facebook FeedLions Club of Leigh on Sea is feeling motivated. It's our national convention today...pity it has to be online, but it's already shaping up to be a good one. Lovely to see hundreds of Lions representing the clubs from around the British Isles and to learn about the service that's been carried out in all our communities this year.
#lionsmd105conLions Club of Leigh on SeaDuring our service in this last, difficult year, we have seen how simple acts of kindness have made a positive difference to people's well-being: the impact cannot be underestimated.
Many of you will have seen and enjoyed the lovely "hats" adorning the pillar box on the corner of Marine Parade and Theobalds Road, all the creation of skilled needlewoman, Lin Catling. Lin, who unexpectedly lost sight in one eye shortly before lockdown last year, was determined to continue with a favourite hobby - and hoped others might enjoy the results. Well - the rest is history. Hundreds of people have made a detour on their walks to include the pillar box, and social media has ensured Lin's creations have reached thousands more.
This morning we popped along to visit Lin, and her lovely husband Les, to thank her for this simple act of kindness, and to present her with our Certificate of Appreciation in recognition. Thanks, Lin!
