Duck Race 2026
The annual duck race is a fun activity run by Leigh Lions in Old Leigh. This year it took place on Sunday 21st June.
As in previous years, we ran games & a book stall on Strand Wharf while we waited for the race to start.
As the incoming tide began to flow, we released the 1400 numbered ducks into the Thames Estuary, closely shepherded by Leigh Lions and 3rd Chalkwell Bay Sea Scouts: the ducks raced down Leigh Creek to the finishing line at Belton Wharf, where they were all quickly gathered up.
The owners of the winning tickets have all been contacted and prize monies paid out.
We offer our sincere thanks to the prize sponsor Priority Management Ltd. and to
Essex Community First Aid Volunteers & Beach School Explorers for helping make the event extra safe and fun
