Terms and Conditions for Duck Race
- The date of any Duck Race will be publicised on the Duck Race ticket and the Leigh on Sea Lions Club website (leighlions.co.uk)
- The Duck Race will be undertaken in Leigh Creek (unless deemed unsafe, see section 5)
- The Duck Race will be decided by the ducks being released into the water and then passing a finishing line. The “winning” duck numbers will be recorded and these then collated to the tickets being sold, in the event that the numbered duck passing the winning line does not have a matching sold ticket, it will forfeit its place and the next Duck past the line will “win” the next available prize.
- The Duck Race prizes will be detailed upon the Duck Race ticket.
- In the unlikely event that the Duck Race cannot occur for any reason, then the “winning ducks” will be determined as follows:
- All sold ticket stubs being placed in a suitable container and tickets (ducks) selected at random by a member of the Lions Club witnessed by another member, equal in number to the prizes available, as detailed on the sold tickets.
- The results of the draw are final.
- Winners will be notified by phone call and prizes will be sent within 28 days. Winners will be called within one week where possible. The ticket stub should be retained as proof of purchase.
- Should a winning ticket be found to be incorrectly completed, the telephone number incomplete or the address incorrect then the winner will forfeit the prize won
- The Lions Club of Leigh on Sea accepts no responsibility for Duck Race tickets that are lost, damaged, illegible, or from which the prize-winner cannot be identified.
- The result of the Duck Race is final. No correspondence will be entered into.
- Ticket (duck) numbers appear on the paper tickets.
- The cost of each entry will be detailed on the ticket sold. Players may purchase more than one entry, and payment must be in advance.
- The winners’ details will be published on leighlions.co.uk. These will only be in summary, for example: ‘Mrs Smith from Berkshire’. We may ask the winner if we can use their name and image in any publicity material. Any personal data relating to the winner will be used solely in accordance with current data protection legislation. Please get in touch if you have any questions.
- All winners are required to cooperate with The Lions Club of Leigh on Sea’s right to publish their win as and where deemed appropriate.
- Unclaimed prizes: If a prize is unclaimed after reasonable efforts have been made by The Lions Club of Leigh on Sea Trust to contact the winner, then The Lions Club of Leigh on Sea Trust will be entitled to dispose of the prize as it thinks fit. The winner has one month after notification to claim the prize.
- To request a winner’s list by post, please send a stamped, self-addressed envelope to the promotor as detailed on the Duck Race ticket.
- No Duck Race tickets can be bought or sold by a person under 16 years old.
- No Duck Race tickets can be bought by or on behalf of a person under 16 years old.
- Proceeds received from the Duck Race go to The Lions Club of Leigh on Sea which incorporates the Leigh on Sea Lions Charitable Trust. Registration Number: 1018796
- The Lions Club of Leigh on Sea Trust is Registered with Southend on Sea Borough Council under the Gambling Act 2005, the registration number will be displayed upon the Duck Race ticket.
- The Duck Race promoter will be displayed upon the Duck Race ticket.
- In the event of an error, however caused, whether a printing error or otherwise and whether obvious or otherwise, which affects the Duck Race in any way, the organisers reserve the right to fairly administer the Duck Race as though the error had not occurred. Where the organisers deem it appropriate and/or feasible The Lions Club of Leigh on Sea Trust will notify entrants of the error.
- Duck Race tickets are only open to residents of the UK (This excludes the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands)
- Any prizes for any Duck Race will be detailed on the Duck Race ticket. There are no alternatives to any prize: any monetary prize will be paid by bank transfer or cheque. No cash alternative is available, and no interest will be payable.
- Material changes to any Duck Races organised by The Lions Club of Leigh on Sea are not predicted to happen (see section 4), but in the event that this occurs a suitable notice will be placed, if time allows, on the clubs website, leighlions.co.uk .The Lions Club of Leigh on Sea is not responsible for any delays in bank payments.
- No liability is accepted for loss, theft or delayed receipt of any communication sent by post. If a prize cheque fails to arrive, we will replace it when notified and cancel the original. The Lions Club of Leigh on Sea may (without giving any reason or notice) decline to accept an application, cancel an existing subscription or terminate or suspend the lottery scheme. The Lions Club of Leigh on Sea’s decisions made pursuant to the rules shall, once made, be final and binding.
- The rules are subject to change by The Lions Club of Leigh on Sea and the latest version will appear on the website leighlions.co.uk.
