Leigh Regatta

Old Leigh Regatta Postponed for this Year

Organisers of the Old Leigh Regatta, the Lions Club of Leigh on Sea, regret to announce that after consultation with the two Scout groups in Old Leigh, this year’s event scheduled for September will not go ahead.

The Lions and the Scouts are mindful of the current uncertainty surrounding the lifting of Government restrictions in June and that other open events of this type may only be starting shortly before but with ticket entry to control crowd numbers.  In view of the difficulty of controlling numbers in the Old Town and the many weeks of planning the event requires it is impossible to hold a Covid-safe Regatta and ensure the safety of the public and organisers.

A spokesperson for the Lions said, “We sincerely hope that the Old Leigh Regatta will return in 2022 in its normal vibrant and family friendly way.”
